Position Summary

Description of position:
The mission of the Community Health Worker Initiatives (CHWI) of the University of New Mexico Office for Community Health is to contribute to the enhancement and integration of Community Health Workers (CHWs) into the NM workforce in an effort to increase health equity. CHWI oversees several innovative programs that engage the support of CHWs to address community health issues primarily impacting low-income populations. Some of our programs are statewide in scope and some are based only in Bernalillo County. Our goal is to improve health and health equity in New Mexico and provide our customers and community partners with the best possible service and health outcomes.

The qualified candidate will be responsible for managing both unrestricted and restricted funds across the various programs at CHWI. Responsibilities will include monitoring and monthly reconciliation of indexes, completing and entering budgets, preparing and updating monthly projection reports and other financial reports. This position supports the department in entering and managing purchase requisitions, vendor invoices and material/service receipts. Other tasks include entering, reviewing and/or approving financial transactions such as PCard reconciliations, reimbursements, requisitions and journal vouchers. They will also monitor vendors, projects and employees’ time-entry using Smartsheets. Processing financial transactions such as labor redistribution, journal vouchers, coordination and preparation of regularly scheduled and special billings will also fall under the scope of this position. The right candidate will also be able to provide guidance and support to faculty and staff in regards to accounting related issues, fund allowed expenses, and UNM policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and successful completion of at least 12 credit hours of university-level accounting through intermediate accounting; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

Additional preferred qualifications
Experience working with UNM financial systems including: Banner, Chrome River, LoboWeb, MyReports.Contract and Grant experience.Knowledge of UNM Policies/Procedures and applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control procedures.Proficient in MS Excel to be able to analyze/interpret financial data and prepare financial reports.Ability to work independently and as a team member.Self-motivated and able to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
