Position Summary
The Accountant I is responsible for general accounting including, but not limited to, General Ledger Account Reconciliations, Journal Entry Preparation and Posting, Fixed Asset Accounting and Reporting, Sales/Use Tax Accounting and Filings, Property Tax Reporting and Filings, General Ledger Account Reconciliations, Processing Payments, and other projects, as assigned.

Position Responsibilities
Prepare/post monthly journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations for assigned accounts
Maintains the SAP Fixed Asset System with asset classification, cost, accumulated depreciation, and depreciation expense. Prepares and books monthly depreciation and amortization journal entries.
Prepares monthly status reports for capital spend against budget and communicates with business segments to forecast future spend and timing.
Ensures compliance with the company Fixed Asset Policy and internal controls. Maintains and recommends updates to the policy, as necessary.
Assigns fixed asset tag numbers to all new assets and coordinates company required physical inventories of fixed assets and book to physical reconciliations. For assets not practical to tag singly, an alternate method for tracking (i.e., IP address for mass roll-out of laptops, etc.) must be approved and available to account for all units at any given time.
Prepares property tax declarations and jurisdictional filings.
Sales/Use tax accounting, Ensures compliance with jurisdictional reporting requirements and timely Sales/Use tax filings. Prepares Sales/Use tax account reconciliations.
Preparing and processing payments.
Reconciling intercompany accounts.
Assist with annual financial audit, coordinates local property tax audits, and assists in tax package preparation.
Assist with other ad hoc projects, as requested.
Position Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree with a focus in Accounting or Finance.
One to three years general accounting experience; preferable in manufacturing or industrial companies.
Knowledge of GAAP.
Proficient in Microsoft Office.
Advance computer skills using Excel (V-look ups, pivot tables, data tables, macros).
ERP experience; SAP a plus.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
