Job Description : AccountantLOCATION/DEPARTMENT: Green Fields REPORTS TO: Finance ManagerMarket, AdministrativeLEVEL: DETAILS: Full-Time a week but based on job posting/schedule requirements.JOB SUMMARY: Provides management with financial information by researching and analyzing accounts; preparing financial statements. Maintain procedures and policies that are accepted accounting and cash management principles and that support the fiscal responsibility and viability of the cooperative. Develop, maintain, and provide complete, timely, accurate financial information to management.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: FINANCIAL & CASH: Work with the Finance Manager to prepare timely, accurate financial statements and reports for internal use and to lenders as required and prepare regular sales and labor reports that provide systems of verifiability for department managers.Ensure timely payment of quarterly and yearly taxes: corporate, property, payroll and sales.Archive financial records/data as required.Collaborate with other managers and staff where department responsibilities overlap.Monitor cash management systems: assist front-end manager in establishing and maintaining high standards of accuracy; oversee bank deposit systems and entering of daily cash receipts for timeliness and accuracy.Monitor cash flow and make appropriate account transfers; monitor anticipated large expenditures to avoid cash flow strains.Monitor collection on returned checks.Perform bank and other reconciliations.HR COLLABORATION: Ensure accuracy, privacy, security and retention of member, personnel, payroll and financial records.Collaborate with HR staff in payroll processing.Validate and reconcile benefits in collaboration with HR staffBOOKEEPING: Verify account balances at the end of each period.Pay verified bills following guidelines for advantageous cash flow and credit rating; research and correct problem accounts.Assist with processing of quarterly inventories.Maintain capital asset records and depreciation schedules.Prepare end of period, adjusting journal entries in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.Work with accounts payable clerk to ensure accuracy and timeliness in posting of invoices with accurate product assignments.Abide by all Co-op policies and procedures as specified in the FCC EmployeeHandbook.Perform other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL JOBS:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
