Job Description : Accountant – Pipestone, MN
Objective:
Help produce financial information for farrow to wean producers by maintaining and performing daily accounting tasks which includes reconciling accounts, preparing reports, performing cash management, and reviewing profitability statements.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Maintain financial records associated with farrow to wean hog producers.
Analyze general ledger accounts to ensure all business transactions are recorded accurately and timely.
Reconcile bank accounts on a monthly basis.
Maintain general ledger accounts by reconciling accounts receivable; inventory; prepaid expenses; fixed assets and depreciation, other assets, accounts payable, and accrued expenses.
Prepare balance sheets, income statements, and other financial statements required under standard operating procedures.
Prepare and submit weekly/monthly reports.
Ensure cost tracking of projects at farms and capitalization/expensing.
Variance analysis
Year-end close (prepare info for tax preparers and answer questions)
Assist with other accounting projects, as necessary
POSITION SPECIFICATIONS
Detail oriented and highly organized
Basic understanding of tax basis accounting
Proven ability to work in a team environment
Proven ability to problem solve
Education:
BSC/BA in accounting, finance, or related field
Experience: 2+ years year of accounting experience, preferably in the agriculture field
Work Environment: Office environment utilizing variety of computer software
Physical Requirements:
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
Ability to attend and participate in meetings of various lengths
Additional Requirements:
Must have valid drivers license and reliable transportation to get to work and attend meetings
