Job Description : Position Summary:
An FTR Hospitality Controller is responsible for overseeing all aspects of a designated client’s general accounting activities to comply with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). The position manages an accounting team for the client and supervises all aspects of accounting including cash management, payroll, accounts payable, general ledger maintenance and financial reporting.
Essential Responsibilities:
Reporting to the client Chief Financial Officer or owners, the controller manages all aspects of accounting; billing, financial statements, general ledger, cost accounting, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, budgeting, tax compliance, inventory accounting, cost accounting, revenue recognition, and various special analyses. This includes:
Maintaining a documented system of accounting policies and operations
Overseeing timely payments of all accounts, including vendors and bank loans
Monitoring cash and funding balances, and completing bank reconciliations
Preparing and organizing timely and complete financial statements
Preparing monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports
Managing budgets and forecasts, reporting significant variances to client
Applies for client grants and loans on an as needed basis
Organize information and statements for audits and both internal and external auditors, maintaining an orderly accounting filing system
Complying with all local, state, and federal laws regarding finances, tax filings, and reporting
Providing client with information vital to decision making
Other Responsibilities:
The controller is responsible for keeping FTR Management informed on any client issues that exist or have been discovered. The controller must be able to communicate and effectively lead an accounting team for each client they are responsible for.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
Minimum 5-7 years of experience as an accountant, accounting supervisor, or manager
Experience in managing general accounting for multi-location businesses
Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance or business administration
Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
Experienced and adept at utilizing financial accounting software and Microsoft Office software
Highly organized, detail-oriented with knowledge of financial accounting, budgeting and forecasting
Excellent communications skills and ability to interface with senior executives and client owners
Ability to lead and mentor other team members
CPA or CMA accreditation preferred, but not required
Experience working with multiple legal entities under different umbrellas
