Job Description : Primary Purpose of Position:
The Cost Accountant will manage the day-to-day cost accounting functions, providing overall costs and manufacturing support to improve operational performance. This position is also responsible for month-end activities, including account reconciliations and financial reporting. In addition, the Cost Accountant will be responsible for the plant standard cost system and process to set annual standard rates.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Analyze actual manufacturing costs and prepare periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production cost
Gross margin reporting and analysis
Review BOMS and Routings for accuracy
Calculate labor and overhead rates and perform periodic review
Monitor performance indicators, highlighting trends and analyzing causes of unexpected variance for cogs items
Participate in month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing process ensuring timely, accurate results
Participate in preparation of quarterly forecasts and annual operating plan
Responsible for coordinating and completing the annual cost roll process
Evaluate policies and procedures, ensure appropriate documentation, update as required
Work effectively with team members at all levels of the company in a positive, professional manner
Represent the company in a professional and ethical manner consistent with our mission statement, values, and goals
Backup to the controller for all general accounting duties and responsible for ad hoc analyses and projects, as requested

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance or a similar discipline.
3+ years in a cost accounting background working in a manufacturing environment
Certifications/Licenses/Registrations:
N/A
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Strong understanding of Cost Accounting principles and methodologies related to product costing, bills of material, manufacturing routings and inventory control required
Advanced computer skills, including but not limited to Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; Manage2000 (or similar ERP system) desirable
Highest standards for accuracy and precision
Organized, flexible and easily adaptable to changing conditions
Articulates with excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to think creatively, highly-driven and self-motivated
Ability to prioritize tasks and projects while being able to multi-task when necessary
High energy, high ownership of work product and commitment to driving results
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Sitting at workstation approximately 60 percent of work time
Standing and walking approximately 40 percent of work time
Must be able to travel between plant and office locations
Ability to work overtime or occasionally on weekends with short notice
Typical office environment with shelves overhead and above work surfaces
Manufacturing environment with multiple machinery and moving parts
The Stow Company may temporarily assign any team member with duties outside of their normal responsibilities. Such assignments may be warranted due to a variety of specific requirements, conditions and/or the capabilities of available personnel. Management will determine the nature and duration of those assignments.
