Job Description : Instructional Designer
Itron has a role for an Instructional Designer. In this role, you will be responsible for sales-focused technical training material for internal employees and external customers in the utilities industry; ensure that training courses address all levels of use, specifically focused on sales initiatives, for Itron’s products and services. This role ensures that training courses address all levels of learners (internal and external) in the use of company products/services. The Instructional Design will develop training, specifically eLearning. This role interfaces with stakeholders to develop specifications.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Captivate 2019, including coding/scripting for advanced and shared actions.
Interpret storyboards and work collaboratively with team to create custom eLearning content.
Demonstrate ability to work with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and Senior Instructional designers to interpret content and find instructionally sound and visually appealing ways to convey content to learners.
Expert level skills in eLearning content development software (Captivate).
Implementation of training techniques/technologies to support design, development, and delivery of online eLearning and training content.
Excellent communication and presentation skills; Ability to effectively pitch ideas to the team.
Excellent ability to work as part of a collaborative team and offer creative, time-saving solutions.
Flexibility and ability to juggle multiple priorities troubleshooting and coding (or specifically writing advanced actions in Captivate).
Create and update sales training materials for our products to support multiple implementations in the electric, water and gas utility industries.
Design learning experiences and products that conform to adult learning principles.
Create and maintain eLearning templates, quality process, content publishing process, and requirements.
Drive the development of instructional design projects and deliverables.
Identify effective methods to ensure accurate, effective materials to meet critical deadlines.
Design and develop sales video training from drafted scripts and key graphic assets.
Maintain quality standards of materials, applying to pre-established style guidelines and design templates.
Develop templates and style guides that reflect a common look and feel across all training materials.
Engage Senior Instructional Designers and other team members to obtain feedback from sales/product training materials and encourage questions and suggestions for continuous improvement of training materials.
Provide proposed plans and status reports to the manager.
Assist with loading content to the Learning Management System (LMS).
Experience building SCORM compliant learning.
Experience with multi-media software, Adobe Captivate.
LMS integration experience.
Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, related field, or equivalent experience. Advanced degree is preferred.
3-5 years of experience as an instructional designer.
2+ years of eLearning development experience (a portfolio of work samples will be required).
Experience with eLearning technologies.
Proficiency with Microsoft Visio, PowerPoint.
Proficiency with Adobe Captivate, Articulate Storyline, or other screen casting tools.
Passion for learning, communicating, and solving problems.
Ability to manage multiple assignments in a deadline-driven environment.
