Job Description : SeKON has an opportunity for Web Designer to join our talented and innovative team supporting Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Our team helps host and manage the CDC COVID-19 website. The CDC’s COVID-19 website was stood up in January 2020 and has grown exponentially since that time. The website is the primary way CDC communicated and disseminates critical health information and guidance. So far, the COVID-19 site has received over 1.3 billion-page views making the site a critical, highly visible part of CDC’s COVID-19 emergency response. Due to COVID-19, this role will be 100% remote for the foreseeable future.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Design web pages using WCMS and/or WordPress that engage the targe audience, drive web traffic, and provide optimal user experience
Coordinate, manage and information on communication goals across primary and secondary audiences, clarifying goals and objectives and seeing projects through timely completion
Apply best practices in health communication for user interface design, templates and human factors engineering to support the create of visually engaging web pages with salient content
Tests and improves site usability and performance across a variety of browsers
Adheres to HHS and CDC standards, and existing legislation including accessibility (508), security, plain language, templates, and colors
Develops solutions to resolve problems and makes recommendations for improvements to process, configuration, and products
Offer specialized expertise in the design and layout of graphical user interfaces particularly screen layouts and functionality for client-server applications (desktop and mobile). Conducts studies, testing and evaluation of screen prototypes for functionality, ease of use, efficiency, and accuracy
Evaluates, test, and validates websites, services and/or software
Assesses services levels and product performance to ensure they meet established quality standards
Documents issues and tracks status in designated systems
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of experience
Requires knowledge of:
Web technologies, techniques, and tools such HTML, Shockwave, Photoshop, Illustrator, Adobe Flex, Adobe Flash, JavaScript, ASP pages, and SEO
Incorporates images, banners, widgets, icons, videos, and streaming audio
508 compliance
Testing of website changes and enhancements according to test plans
Eligible to obtain Public Trust Clearance
