Our solution is evolving towards a micro services architecture.What You Will Be DoingBuild new features ensuring high scalability and performance in the cloudArchitect elegant and maintainable code with a focus on consistency and best practicesDesign and implement database schemas, deployment and migration scriptsAssist translating business requirements into software designs, implementation schedules, and deployment strategiesCollaborate with peers on technical design, work estimation and feature implementation on the data model, business processes or logic, and user interfacesIdentify bottlenecks and performance implications to assist weighing the cost of technical debt and the impact in the businessContribute ideas to iteratively improve engineering team job enjoyment, processes and productivityParticipate in peer code reviews and collaborate with intelligent engineers to improve overall code quality, yourself, and your peersWhat You Should HaveA college or university degree in computer science or a related field (a combination of education or experience is also fine!)5+ years of practical experience writing highly scalable web applications (PHP required, Python a plus)5+ years of experience implementing REST or GraphQL APIs5+ years of relational database experience (MySQL preferred)2+ years of experience deploying containerized or serverless infrastructure in the cloudStrong experience writing understandable, testable code with an eye towards maintainability, scalability and resilienceSolid grasp of software design patterns and object-oriented design principlesPassion for automation (CICD) and engineering lifecycle efficiencyYou are a strong communicator and a seasoned architect that can lead discussion or debate, and help drive technical decision makingA sense of ownership and a strong desire to solve problems rather than simply shipping solutionsHunger to have an impact on our team and the businessOur Mission and ValuesEach of us at DocuPet comes to work each day to move our organization closer to its ultimate mission: to provide a safe and happy home for every pet.
