FT is currently looking for a SQL Developer who will support the work on Finance Transformation, the University’s large scale project to modernize its finance operations, business systems and processes.

The SQL Developer is an experienced professional familiar with large scale data management systems and enterprise projects in diverse and complex technical environments. This role acts as a technical contributor and is responsible for meeting service level expectations for portions of ETL processing and the data platform, including resolving support requests and problem solving with teammates as well as technical and business partners. The SQL Developer is expected to communicate and interact with matrixed teams across the organization, such as Information Management, DBAs, Windows Engineering, and campus partners.

Working in a team with other SQL Developers, this position is responsible for:

Delivering data for a variety of data integration projects

Performance tuning SQL queries and databases

Ensuring data assets are well managed

Carrying out maintenance and production support activities

Participating in best practices and processes for data management

Based on candidate skills, this position may also be responsible for producing and testing code for ETL frameworks and/or streamlining and automating operations, as well as supporting infrastructure projects, large-scale database migrations, cloud service design and implementation, data security projects, and application and/or web development.

This position must work with and influence decisions across multiple teams, including: teams responsible for legacy systems, enterprise IT services, and integrations; the UW’s Finance Transformation program; and partner IT and business units at the UW.

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s Degree in Information Science, Computer Science or related area or equivalent experience.

Four years experience in two or more of the following:

ETL processing design, planning, testing, and production implementations.
Expert level capabilities in Transact-SQL, stored procedure development, query optimization, and tuning.
Automating SQL Server with PowerShell.
Data warehousing experience.
Experience developing solutions in large scale, complex, enterprise environments.
Experience with managing databases in source control in a multi-developer environment.
Familiarity with Continuous Integration and Delivery (CI/CD).
Demonstrated collaboration skills with colleagues at all levels and across different organizations.
Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver creative solutions to meet business needs.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
Demonstrated excellent written/oral communication skills, technical documentation skills, user liaison skills, and personal interaction abilities.

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

DESIRED:

Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver creative solutions to meet business needs.
Working knowledge of NET, JQuery, Javascript, JSON, or XML.
Comfortable with Powershell in a complex, enterprise environment.
Advanced practical experience with data warehouse industry standards and patterns.
-Familiar with cloud technologies (AWS, Azure) and their client libraries (AWS -Tools for PowerShell, Azure management cmdlets).

Experience with ETL toolsets such as SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), WhereScape Red, Talend, or Penopto.
Knowledge of Agile software development lifecycle methods and processes.
Experience in a major research university setting.

Work in an open office environment. This position involves responsibilities and occasional situations where work outside of standard business hours is required to respond to incidents or to meet critical deadlines. Work in an open office environment.

This position on the Finance Transformation Project is temporarily funded; continued employment is contingent on ongoing funding and performance.

This position is eligible for flexible remote work.
