Populus Financial Group has an immediate opening for a Software Developer on our Web Services team to help build and maintain applications that handle millions of transactions. This person must be a highly motivated self-starter that excels in a collaborative environment. At Populus, we develop our own software and our Software Developers are essential to the company’s success!
Major Responsibilities
Contribute to the design, development and testing of mission-critical applications, including new applications and enhancements to existing systems
Provide designs that are as simple as possible, fast, efficient, robust, easy to maintain, and easy to scale
Work on multiple projects at once
Handle all development work with only high-level initial direction
Assist in preparing level of effort estimates
Work collaboratively in a team environment
Independently remove significant project roadblocks
Help less experienced developers overcome technical problems
Ensure high quality and timely delivery of software
Work with QA resources throughout the software development lifecycle
Adhere to company coding standards, including unit testing and code reviews
Coach less experienced developers on standards and expectations
Understand the full application lifecycle from inception through maintenance
Provide production support as necessary

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This position might require long hours and weekend work.

Experience
Required
Programming Languages: C#, T-SQL
Database Platforms: SQL Server 2016 or later, DB2 for iSeries
Experience designing and/or developing web services using WCF and Web API
Excellent verbal and written communication, problem solving and time management skills
Familiar with Agile development methodologies (SCRUM, Kanban)
Preferred
Frameworks: .NET 3.5 and later, MVC a plus
Experience dealing with legacy applications and transitioning legacy systems to current architecture standards a plus
Education
Required
Bachelor’s Degree or better in Information Technology or related field
Bachelor’s Degree or better in Computer Science or related field
