Position : Web Application Developer, Hockey Operations
Job Description : The Philadelphia Flyers are seeking a full time (on-site or remote first) Full Stack Software Engineer within the hockey operations department. This position will report directly to the Director of Hockey Analytics and collaborate with other members of the analytics department. The primary task of the Software Engineer will be developing web base applications to assist in making informed and impactful decisions.
Position Overview:
As a Web Application Developer you will build and enhance existing web applications to assist in the decision making of the Flyers Hockey Operations department. The ideal candidate will possess technical coding and UI/UX skills that will assist with communicating, presenting, and preparing visualizations that are easily digestible by the General Manager, coaching staff, scouts, and other key personnel.
Responsibilities:
Ability to work independently and collaboratively to design and deploy decision support systems and tools.
Develop and maintain existing and new data driven web applications for use by various stakeholders throughout the hockey operations department.
Assist and contribute to the analytics team current projects by providing code review and feedback.
Preferred Skills: the following skills will be given priority when selecting the ideal candidate.
Demonstrated proficiency with HTML/CSS/JS and React JS + Node JS/Vue JS.
Knowledge of SQL/relational databases is a plus.
Undergraduate or graduate degree in a relevant field, preferably in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or demonstrated work experience in one of these areas.
Experience developing rich data driven web applications for use on Web/Tablet/Mobile.
Experience developing Progressive Web Apps (PWA)
Experience with integrating applications with APIs and JSON data.
Experience with version control through Git.
Ability to communicate complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders through various UI elements.
Strong ability to work independently, be self-directed and demonstrate initiative.
Able and willing to work some nights and weekends when required.
If Remote: ability to travel to Philadelphia, PA and/or Voorhees, NJ regularly
