POSITION SUMMARY: The Web & Database Integrator-Programmer works with the College’s Information Systems team and administrative offices to provide expertise in software development procedures to the College’s online applications. This position builds and maintains online technology; recommends and redesigns applications; manages a complex body of source code; maintains locals and vendor releases; investigates and analyzes feasibility of program requirements; analyzes needs; develops application specifications; tracks usage statistics of online systems; performs required testing and debugs problem reports; and solves complex programming problems. This position also designs, writes, and tests new applications and interfaces to further the College’s enterprise projects, and uses a full range of programming actions to produce products from numerous, diverse data elements.
Reporting directly to the Director of Information Systems, the Web & Database Integrator-Programmer works independently and collaboratively to perform the following essential duties and responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and maintain secure online applications and integrations to administrative information systems, both onsite and cloud hosted. These include the Student Information System (Jenzabar CX), Workday, document imaging, the data warehouse, the Identity Management System, and others used by faculty, students, staff, administration, and alumni.
Work with Information Systems staff to develop and integrate functionality into enterprise applications.
Participate in sprint planning and sprint review sessions
Collaboratively manage source control with the team including branching and merging procedures
Create and organize automated unit tests adhering to code coverage requirements
Collaborate with other teams to solve cross functional challenges.
Partner with cross-functional teams such as HR, Recruiting, Payroll, Finance, IT, Facilities, and other groups to streamline and automate data delivery and synchronization among enterprise applications.
Work with administrative staff to develop and maintain database-driven or cloud-hosted enterprise applications consistent in design and high performance.
Represent Pomona College on the consortial Web committee.
Participate punctually, effectively and professionally in meetings.
Install and configure server software.
Monitor online systems for uptime and recommend system optimizations to improve performance as needed.
Install, configure, and maintain operating systems and software (including administration of the web servers).
Provide training, testing, debugging, and documentation as required.
Learn new systems and adapt to changing technologies.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High School Diploma, GED or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred.
Experience: A minimum of 3 years of proven experience in the development, production and maintenance of dynamic, complex web sites or online applications, preferably in higher education. Required experience and advanced working knowledge of:
Developing in .NET, scripting languages such as Perl or PHP, and Javascript
Developing and maintaining web services, SOAP, REST API, SQL, and performing system integration development
Developing and consuming REST and SOAP APIs and implementing security for the services deployed
C#, XML, JSON, REST and SOAP
Authentication methods for API’s
Writing and analyzing SQL queries
Excellent skills in MSSQL or similar database, web server administration, Visual Studio, or other Web authoring software.
Internet design (including HTML and CSS)
Preferred Skills include:
Design, develop, test, and deploy Workday integrations
Review business/functional requirement documents, author technical design documents, and produce high quality integrations that are unit tested, code reviewed, and checked in
Experience with Workday Studio or similar IDE environments
Experience with JIRA as collaborative work-tracking tool
Experience in using Confluence, BitBucket, Trello, or equivalents
Demonstrate knowledge to build CI/CD pipeline
Familiarity with data governance and data lifecycle management processes
Experience with monitoring and alerting tools, and analyzing system metrics to determine root cause analysis
Experience with Windows Server, IIS, DFS, ADLDS and other windows technologies.
Linux command line experience
Experience with Student Information Systems such as Jenzabar CX and JICS
Experience with Windows servers and portal software (such as Drupal, Uportal, MS Sharepoint or Jenzabar’s JICS)
REQUIRED HOURS: The regular hours for this full time position are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday – Friday. Holiday, weekend and evening work hours will be required to complete work during off-peak periods and in response to emergency situations. Travel will be required. Regular hours may vary due to needs of the College or division.
