Job Description : The Web Designer develops innovative websites, newsletters, and designs to enhance the end-user experience by delivering high-quality products using industry standards.
Collaborates with various teams on content updates for all FIU Online managed websites.
Creates graphical elements used for all FIU Online managed websites and applications, such as banners, layouts, design, and icons.
Facilitates developing the styled layouts for all FIU Online managed websites, including the graphical conversion from Adobe Photoshop to HTML/PHP/CSS.
Keeps immersed in the latest web design trends and implements new ideas into ongoing projects.
Works with FIU Online clients to define business functions of website, and implement these requirements using innovative technologies.
Uses front end optimization techniques to enhance the user experience.
Ensures that all application design and styling is up to industry standards as well as in compliance with University and state regulations and/or practices.
Works with Google Analytics to track website statistics to view popular pages and improve user’s experience.
Plans and Designs FIU Online Email Newsletters for FIU Online faculty, staff, and students.
Creates wireframes, storyboards, user flows, process flows and site maps to effectively communicate interaction and design ideas.
Establishes and promotes design guidelines, best practices and standards for FIU Online websites.
Manages the testing process, which includes devising test plans, creating test cases, establishing protocols and appropriate testing environments, and coordinating actual software testing.
Manages and maintains third party applications and make recommendations to provide better user experiences and efficiencies.
Assists the SSD team in executing the efforts for system upgrades and maintenance as required by the unit.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in MIS, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Studies, Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design, or other related discipline and two (2) years related experience, OR an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.
Departmental Requirements
On call 24 hour by 7 day for possible emergency situations.
Desired Qualifications
Experience using Photoshop.
Experience using Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Techniques.
Experience using Google Analytics
Experience with VUE framework
Experience with Laravel framework
