POSITION SUMMARY:
The Web Developer is responsible for providing a technical understanding and skill-set alongside our digital marketing team to maintain our current UX standards and web presence. This candidate will support the Development and Sales & Marketing teams with any Shopify/e-commerce related efforts and implement all technical related tasks needed on the front-end. Areas of emphasis include strategizing user experience and e-commerce improvements, optimizing and maintaining website health, writing and maintaining font-end code, administration of the Shopify websites and applications, and working with the Sales & Marketing team on ADA, DSHEA, and Privacy Policy compliance measures. The successful candidate will be able to successfully project manage and implement website-related initiatives in cooperation with Sales & Marketing and IT leadership.
The Web Developer reports to the DevOps Engineer. This a full-time, non-exempt position with remote work opportunity possible until offices are reopened in Olympia, WA. Regular working days and times are Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (PST). A reliable high-speed internet connection is required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Administrate Shopify websites using security best practices.
Collaborate with the digital design team on the modification and creation of Shopify themes and checkout.
Implement front-end development and administration best practices focused on proper theme and checkout functionality.
Consult with the Sales & Marketing to satisfy any needs for ADA, DSHEA, and Privacy Policy compliance.
Create and maintain front-end coding projects and websites with a focus on optimizing speed and scalability.
Configure, create, and maintain front-end API connections and applications.
Coordinate web platform/software/app administration with Marketing and IT.
Clearly communicate recommended solutions to team members and clients both verbally and in written documentation.
Translate requirements and mock-ups into fully functioning e-commerce sites using HTML/CSS/Liquid/JS.
Monitor and maintain strong web core vitals.
Research and decipher any documentation for APIs, e-commerce systems, applications, etc. that relate to the company and our front-end projects.
Maintain a strong relationship between the IT and Marketing departments to provide an avenue for the design teams creative vision and website flow implementations.
Collaborate with Marketing on SEO optimizations and UX Audits.
Strategize, organize, and visualize web analytics data to inform marketing strategy.
Contribute to brand strategy and audience segmentation efforts with research, analysis, and recommendations.
Oversee foundational website rebuild projects/website theme changes based on evolving brand needs.
Research and evaluate design and app solutions to improve website UX and e-commerce functionality.
Conduct thorough app testing processes to ensure successful implementation.
Collaborate with the IT/Developer team to address back-end needs and processes.
Further establish design guidelines and web standards (both design and technical).
Co-lead ADA website compliance efforts with stakeholders across the organization.
Co-lead privacy policy efforts with stakeholders across the organization.
Produce high quality plans and content quickly, efficiently, and accurately in line with internal approvals processes.
Evaluate content to determine compliance with established standards.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in relevant web development field, or in lieu of a degree, five (5)+ years of web development experience
Three (3)+ years’ experience in web development in an e-commerce environment
One (1)+ year’s Front-end development experience (PHP, CSS, HTML JSON, XML, SQL, JS), liquid template language (Ruby)
Ability to make Shopify Checkout functionality and customization changes
Familiarity of Shopify Theme installation, customization and migration
Experience in 3rd party API integrations (SAP, Authorize.net, etc.)
Experience configuring third party applications and API connections
Versed in agile development and best practices
An excellent ability to convert Figma/Sketch/PSD mockups into interactive digital experiences
Understanding of ADA Compliance, cross-browser/platform issues, and code solutions
One (1)+ years’ experience with Code versioning tools (Git)
Experience with Shopify Plus required
Intermediate or higher level understanding of SEO/web analytics, Google Webmaster Tools, UX Audits, etc.
Advanced knowledge of web technology and design principles and best practices
Highly collaborative and able to work successfully with both Marketing and IT teams
Must be able to create a website, webpage, or graphic from design brief
Knowledge of and ability to inform front-end style guides
