Job Description : Overview:
The IT Software Engineering Group is seeking a highly motivated, senior software developer to join a team of like-minded people pushing the boundaries of available applications for submarine design, manufacturing and construction. From initial concept design through implementation, you will be working with product stakeholders, designers and engineers from various disciplines to define the best practical application to suit the needs of the customer/end-user as well as be innovative, impactful and cost beneficial to the company and other organizations alike. You will grow your skills, work with the cutting edge technologies and introduce new tools and techniques to the team. There are plenty of opportunities for leadership growth as well. You will work in an environment that encourages creative thinking and novel solutions to continuously challenging problems. You will be creating software applications that make our company work effectively and efficiently at what we do – which is designing and constructing the world’s finest submarines for the United States Navy.
Responsibilities include:
Work closely with end users and the development teams to define, plan and build complex applications
Translation of the UI/UX design wireframes to produce visual elements of the application
Writing well designed, testable, efficient code by using best software development practices
Promoting strict code peer review practices as well as testing and validation to ensure high-quality coding standards
Maintenance of software applications throughout the lifecycle of the product
Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or equivalent technical degree
Preferred:
2+ years of hands on experience developing responsive web applications with programming languages such as HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and React
A solid understanding of how web applications work including security, session management, and best development practices
Experience with the following technologies: Java, NodeJS, Object-Oriented Design, RESTful Web Services, API’s, JSON, XML/XSL

Candidate must have a strong understanding of UI, cross-browser compatibility, general web functions and standards
Ability to work on a team and/or independently
Persuasive communication and presentation skills
Awareness of latest UX/UI trends and technologies
Good understanding of the agile principles and scrum methodology
Self-motivated to learn new skills for solving complex/challenging problems
Enthusiasm for working in high performing team environment and collaborating with customers and end-users to define scope and design
