Job Description : General DescriptionLaGuardia Community College’s Division of Adult and Continuing Education, Workforce Development Department is seeking a curriculum developer to re-design the web development certificate pathway within our technology training offerings. The web development certificate should prepare students for entry-level employment as web developers in the tech sector, and should thus be designed around the current needs of employers, using labor market research and insights from the field.Reporting to the Director of Technology Training Initiatives and coordinating closely with the Technology Training Manager, the Web Development Curriculum Developer will be responsible for developing (1) an outline for the certificate pathway, with prospective course titles, descriptions and topics covered in each course (to be completed by Nov. 29, 2021) and (2) curriculum for the first two courses in the series, with syllabus, outline, lesson plans, and supplemental materials (to be completed by Jan. 31, 2022). The web development offering must be based on employer demand and focused on preparing students to land entry-level employment upon completion. You will meet with employer partners and program partners to understand the skills required of training graduates.You will be paid $75/hr for a total of 50 hours(10 hours for certificate pathway + 20 hours for 1st course + 20 hours for 2nd course)QualificationsRequired Qualifications: Expertise in the field of web development.Knowledge of employer and labor market needs, as well as individual skills needed to land employment in web development.Experience developing curricula and/or experience teaching web development.Experience designing and developing web development-focused course materialsA minimum of a master’s degree in Computer Science OR graduated from a Web Development/Software Engineering Bootcamp and have worked in the field for more than 3 years.Excellent oral and written communication skills.Preferred Qualifications: Experience writing curriculum for use by other educators.Experience with CUNY, adult and continuing education, and/or a community college setting.Experience developing curricula for workforce development programsPhD in Computer Science or similar fieldA minimum of five (5) years of experience working in the fieldNote: Applications without a cover letter will not be considered.Job Types: Part-time, TemporaryPay: $75.00 per hourBenefits:Flexible scheduleEducation:Master’s (Preferred)Experience:Web Development: 3 years (Required)Curriculum Development: 1 year (Required)Work Location: Remote
