It is essential that the person in this role recognize that they are not yet a certified or registered nursing assistant and that it is their responsibility to perform tasks that are not outside of their scope of training in order to assure resident safety. Until the trainee has completed a selected skills unit at the training site, they may NOT perform that task in the SNF. The Nursing Assistant completes assigned tasks to ensure timely, efficient and safe patient/resident care. Communication and interactions with patients, residents, families and other health team members is an essential component of this position.KEY RESULT AREAS/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOBPerform initial and ongoing data collection on all patients/residents under the direction of the Registered Nurse (RN) and/or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).Implement plan of care developed by the RN based on patient/resident physical, psychosocial, cultural, ethnic and religious/spiritual needs.Provide direct patient/resident care and reports condition and changes to RN or LPN.Demonstrate time management and prioritization of tasks.Document results of patient/resident care within established policies, procedures and scope of practice.Recognize and understand the scope of their practice as to not exceed the boundaries of the role.Promotes the Benedictine Mission and Core Values of Hospitality, Stewardship, Respect and Justice by bringing the Mission and Core Values into the day-to-day activities of the company.Performs other duties, tasks and/or projects as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREDMust be currently enrolled and attending the State CNA/NAR Training ProgramMust be eligible to be on the State Nursing Assistant registry or appropriate entity pending successful completion of the trainingIf the trainee does not pass the school testing, they are not eligible to apply to the State Registry and will no longer be able to work in this position in the facility.
