Job Description : Collins Aerospace is looking for a Technical Accounting Manager who will be heavily involved in writing technical memos and whitepapers, performing accounting research, reviewing the month-end close reporting process, and addressing technical questions as they arise from within the company, including but not limited to revenue recognition, warranty, lease accounting, and contract modifications. You will manage a team of 1, also collaborate closely with multiple members of finance, accounting, sales, legal teams, and internal/external auditors.
**Position is currently working remotely, may need to work onsite in a hybrid capacity when circumstance permit**
Primary Responsibilities
Act as resource to major business unit and corporate initiatives as technical accounting specialist.
Support the month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing process and ensure timely completion and accuracy.
Review and approve team members’ journal entries and account reconciliations.
Provide technical accounting guidance for complex transactions, such as warranty, lease arrangements, contract modifications, impairments, acquisitions, and building purchases.
Support the accounting and reporting for deferred revenue, revenue, sale-leaseback transactions, lease accounting, bill and hold reporting, revenue performance obligations, and other areas as needed.
Analyze and document conclusions for customer contracts to ensure all revenue elements are being billed, measured and accounted for correctly including performing audits of sales orders for proper revenue recognition/amortization of revenue and discounts.
Participate in the implementation efforts for new accounting standards and participate in the review of proposed standards.
Participate in process improvements, reporting enhancements and special projects as needed.
Manage and analyze activities in accordance with accounting principles and standards to control financial resources and compliance with company policies.
Develop and document standard work procedures.
Support internal and external audits for process compliance and timely completion.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of prior relevant experience OR
Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience OR
In absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience is required
CPA certification
Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder
Strong understanding of General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Strong attention to detail
Must be able to communicate and present information to senior and executive leadership
MS Office Suite Experience: Excel (pivot tables, vlookup), create PowerPoint presentations
Experience with ERP systems
Public accounting experience
Preferred Qualifications
SAP and / or HFM experience
Public Accounting experience
Advanced Excel formulas
Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting
